It doesn’t need to have a dock or anything. I’m just looking to find speakers that produce high volume and quality sound without distortion. The two products I have been looking at are the JBL On Tour speaker system and the Skullcandy Pipe. However, since it didn’t come with a wall adapter, I searched my house for one that fit. Finally, I did find a wall adapter whose plug fit into the unit and the speaker unit powered on.
Within a minute, the unit started smoking, and I immediately unplugged.
Is it possible that, while there may be more than one kind of wall adapter that works for this, some may actually deliver too much power and destroy the unit? OR….is this just a really cheap, poorly designed piece of equipment?
(I am certain not much $ was spent on it)

is there a radio device/attachment that sits underneath the ipod that can then be plugged into the speaker?
