These are indeed wonderful speakers for their size and weight but be warned – they are not travel speakers for the sole reason that, unlike every other electronic product like this, it does not come with a power brick which would allow one to use it in any country with just an adapter. The unit is hard-wired with no range whatsoever and carrying a transformer around is not really possible. Don’t get caught out like me – I will have to return them tomorrow and continue my search for decent portable sound /sigh.

This sounds so amazing with my sony MP3 player! This is small enough to be portable to bring with you to a hotel or cabin or friends house. Small, but BIG sound! It fills a 500 sqft. space with no trouble at all and could fill a much bigger space as well I believe!! The bass on it is amazing. I love the remote control as well. I love having my mp3 charged and at the ready all the time. Great product from Sony again!

I’m so impressed with this unit that I’m coming back to buy another one for a different room. It took about one minute to set up and it works beautifully with my X-series. It will not fill a large room with sound but is great for background music and that it also recharges the unit is really handy since I don’t always have my computer on.

I bought this docking station for my Walkman (which I love–even bought refurbished and no problems), also purchased through Amazon a few months ago. I was looking for a basic docking station but didn’t mind spending a decent amount of money ($150+) to get good quality sound. I am not an audiophile but I do appreciate decent sound, and in this department the Sony docking station disappoints a bit. The separate subwoofer does output more than enough bass and low-frequency sound to easily fill a room, but the actual docking unit itself with its 2 smaller speakers is clearly not matched well with the substantially more powerful sub unit. At even moderate volume levels there is distortion and audible static from the tweeters, which are simply not up to the task. It seems that the unit was constructed to be very sleek and have a small footprint first, with good sound quality a distant second goal. Somewhat larger speakers and a little more attention to quality internal components would probably have created a much better overall product, with only a slight increase in price.

Additionally, be aware that many of the controls for this unit are accessible *only* on the included remote control, so be sure to not lose it otherwise you won’t be able to adjust your bass or treble level or access the included surround mode. The surround mode does seem to spread out the sound from the unit quite successfully, although it significantly changes the sound of your music in the process so you may or may not really like it. Volume controls are buttons (not a knob), and work in conjunction with your Walkman, so ensure that your Walkman’s volume is turned up a bit in order to play louder music. I found that the best level was around 20-22 or so (out of 30 on the Walkman) to minimize distortion, although even with this modest volume level I could still hear plenty of audible static on the mid and highs.

Overall, although this unit is more than adequate to deliver sound to a desk area or small workstation, its lack of quality main speakers really cuts its abilities short to play a clean sound. The attached subwoofer certainly delivers, despite its diminutive size (compared to full-size subs), but the main unit doesn’t have the cajones to back up the sub. Everything seems to be constructed well, there are no build quality issues that I can see and the controls are intuitive, although I do prefer a dial volume knob and not just push-buttons. There is almost no adjustability from the main unit itself, everything is done from the remote.

I haven’t had a chance to listen to other potential docking stations for the Walkman, so I don’t have a real point of reference to compare with other products but by itself I get the impression that this isn’t worth more than half of what I paid for it. Kudos to Sony for the subwoofer and the Walkman (I hate iPods), but please try harder on your next docking station.

I ordered this for my Sony walkman X hoping that it was compatible & it is!! It was very easy to set up & play. When I heard it, the sound was amazing. I’ve been looking for some time for Sony to come out with the docking station for their Sony walkman with great sound & this is it. I am not disappointed at all. It charges up the Sony walkman X & plays the music @ the same time. I love the little remote it comes with & I don’t even mind the subwoofer cuz that’s what gives the awesome bass for the music. You can hide that easily away from view. The only thing I don’t like about is that the power switch is on the subwoofer, not on the remote. Otherwise I love this little docking station with the big sound.

Amazon has been great with their packaging, tracking & fast shipping. Thank you Amazon.
